A quite afternoon at the cottage
Some sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like stepping into someone’s everyday life for a little while.
No big setup. No rush. Just two people spending time together in a space that already feels like them. That’s the beauty of an in-home couples photoshoot.
They don’t ask you to become a different version of yourself, they simply give you space to slow down and be present.
This couples photo session
This session unfolded slowly, the way good afternoons often do.
Records played while they made coffee and moved around the cottage. They danced in the living room for a while, laughing without thinking about the camera. Later they settled onto the couch, quiet and comfortable, letting the moment breathe.
We stepped outside for a bit, sitting on the porch overlooking the mountains, walking slowly, talking, doing nothing in particular.
There wasn’t a plan to follow or a list of poses to get through. The session simply followed their rhythm, and that’s what made it feel honest.
The photographs became less about what they were doing and more about how it felt to be there with each other.

What an in-home couples photoshoot with me feels like
Before we ever meet, we plan together.
Not in a strict or complicated way, just enough so everyone feels comfortable and knows what to expect. We talk about the kind of atmosphere you want, the things you naturally enjoy doing together, and what would feel most like you.
Some couples bring music. Some pour a glass of wine. Others just curl up on the couch and talk. My role is to guide gently the whole time. I give prompts to help movement feel natural, but I leave space for things to unfold on their own. If you feel like dancing, we lean into that. If you want a quiet moment together, we stay there.
The goal is never to perform for the camera. It’s to create space where you can relax enough to forget it’s there. That’s when the most meaningful moments happen. Read more about my approach to couples photography here.

A reminder for your next in-home photoshoot
You don’t need a special occasion to document your relationship. You just need a space that feels like you, and the willingness to slow down together for a little while. The small moments are usually the ones you’ll want to remember most.
